North Justice Center
This facility handles traffic, minor offenses, criminal offenses, limited civil cases, and small claims cases. The men and women that work in the courthouse all must work together in order for everybody’s cases to move swiftly. Some of the departments that could be found in this facility include Appeals division, Civil division, Collections division, Criminal, Division, Family Court Services, Family division, Jury Services, Juvenile division, Small Claims division, and the Traffic and Infractions division. Each department has its own set of responsibilities for certain cases that are at this courthouse. If you have anything to do legally in the city of Buena Park, then you will be coming to this courthouse to have it handled.
The Buena Park Police Department relies heavily on this courthouse because all of their cases are sent her for prosecution, whether it is criminal or traffic. You will notice that when you walk into the courthouse a few officers will be waiting for you and have you walk through a metal detector.
This is to ensure the safety of everyone inside the courthouse at all times. Nobody is permitted to walk through the front doors with any type of weapon no matter how harmless it seems. This includes all construction workers as well who may have some type of tool on their person when they visit the courthouse. The courthouse has its very own police department inside the courthouse for emergencies.
The police at the courthouse run the security and they are all officers that have been sworn in. Do not mistake them for regular security guards because they have all of the training of every officer out in the field and are prepared for any situation that may occur while the courthouse is open. They will also supervise all of the inmates that travel here for their court appearance from the Orange County Jail.
The courthouse also relies on the community for its decision-making such as when people are called for jury duty. This is a chance for all members of the community to do their part in the justice system by helping decide on a case and whether the person is guilty or not. The members of the courthouse urge people to visit this courthouse and become more familiar with it and how it works so that you could understand the justice system a little better.
